HomeGoods Review and $100 Gift Card giveaway!

I got home from class at 11.30 pm on Friday night.
I knew I need to fall fast asleep because I needed to be up bright and early the next morning.
As soon as my alarm started singing, Three Little Birds, I hopped out of bed and into the shower. Today was the HomeGoods/BlogHer private shopping trip!

I walked over to the 2/3 Fulton Station stop and made my way up to Columbus and 96th Street in just over half an hour, which was awesome.  I did not have to wait long to get my shop on!

We were greeted by the lovely ladies of BlogHer and HomeGoods at the check-in with breakfast, coffee and pastries! I even brought a few bites of what I had baked the night before.

The first thing I noticed about HomeGoods was the set-up.
All the china was upstairs, right when you walked in.
My girlfriend, Sydney, went straight for it and to her surprise found her place-settings by Vera Wang there for $19.99, which retails elsewhere for $139.99.
Is that not one of the best deals ever?

I decided to take everything in before seriously starting to shop, but kept finding myself back in the bath towel aisle. I've been married for 5 years and my once light blue towels are now gray and need to graduate to the rag stage. It's time for new ones.
The colors, styles, feel of these towels were amazing and I mixed and matched a few that went well in my loo.

After I finally left the bathroom section, I ran into a few of my friends and decided to peek into their carts.  Karina's son picked out a pretty shell box for his mementos, Leanna grabbed a one of a kind vase which was recycled from tires, Kris picked up a wok and cutting board, Marie found the perfect shower gift for her friend -- a dutch oven and Angie was so excited to find the cutest mushroom in the garden decor section and some bright, yellow polka dot sheets.
It was really neat to see everyone's personalities through their purchases.

Wanna check out my personality?

I first spotted a coral vase that I knew would be the perfect mini umbrella stand.
And then onto a green, boho chic candle holder that called out my name as a I walked by. I then spotted two orange candles and added them to my cart because I could not resist the smells of citrus and berries. I then turned the corner to find the frames. I knew right away that I wanted to frame the custom drawn print of my daddy and it needed to be in something simple but elegant and wouldn't you know, I found it there!

And the baker in me knew I needed a non slip cutting board. I am really into color coding my boards. For example, chicken = yellow, meat = red and green = veggies. Much healthier to do it this way.  And I cannot leave out my fur-boys. They got a new bowl that encourages sharing. :0

Last but not least, a unique clock caught my eye.
It was the only one around and I grabbed it and never looked back.

I have to say that I was so happy when I got home and realized that I had saved a ton of money at HomeGoods. The store was open and bright, items were by season and organized by color. It helped me so much because I knowing the color I needed, I could go right to it.
The people were super nice and helpful and when I woke up Sunday morning, I wanted to do it all over again. . . and I will!

HomeGoods -- Be Happy

To Anon: Yup, you are correct. I made a bad mistake and was talking about World Market.
Big mistake.
Thanks for correcting me.

Friends, I am beyond excited to announce that I was picked to participate in the review program of HomeGoods, featuring a private shopping event here in the Big Apple aka NYC. I cannot tell you how happy this has made me. I remember getting the email to apply and thinking I not only would like to be apart of this but I NEEDED to be. I sent off my information into the world wide web hoping it would be one of the chosen few.

Once someone asked me why I liked HomeGoods soooo much and I replied by asking if they had been in one. They said no and I said, just go and you will have your answer. I find it is a very "Summer" (as in me, not the season) store. Unique, colorful and stylish.

I know what you are thinking: "this is awesome for Summer, but how does this affect me?" Well, it's also awesome for YOU because there is a SWEEPSTAKES for ten $25 gift cards on the Prizes and Promotions Page of Blogher.com. What are you waiting for? You have the chance to WIN.  Head over there now and read the rules and enter by June 30th.
In addition to the opening of the fab NYC store, HomeGoods is opening lots of stores across the country, so check out HomeGoods.com to find one nearest you.

Beautiful, right?
I am in love with the colors and patterns.
Another thing I like about HomeGoods is their blog. There are a ton of cool ideas on how to mix and match prints and even examples of things customers have purchased.
We all love a good design, right?

Allright, folks -- I am off to start my shopping list!

Have a great day,
Summer Athena
